The Irish Brigade, The Civil War & My Family, Episode 186
If your Irish ancestors came to the USA in the years before the Civil War, you might have someone in your bloodline who fought in the Irish Brigade for the Union in the Civil War. The Irish Brigade was the most celebrated, most decorated and most devastated unit in American military history. It was formed from Irish immigrants from Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania. I have 3 such relatives from Milford Mass. They were originally from Galway.
